Why Do You Need This?
I’ve already shown you the quick example above, but really that’s only the tip of it!
If your audience uses mobile of which: 47% of consumers use a mobile application for checking their email. (- Campaign Monitor, Litmus)
Then you NEED to be using tactics to stand out from the rest of the crowd and improving your open rates and keeping your audience engaged.
Let’s take a look at my inbox right now (I know it’s messy)…
The emails that really stand out are by Erica Russo, Nate Ryan (loving the bright background colour), Ebay and Traffic Dominators.
If you don’t use an image then it turns the first letter of your name into a logo for you on mobile (desktop it doesn’t show anything until you open the email).
I am surprised that Gumtree doesn’t use a custom profile image though (they are the UK’s version of Craigslist). Think they need to step up their email marketing game!
The other point is….
Images = Better Reminders
People remember images, so if your giving your audience value, positive experiences and they are excited to hear from you, then it’s only right that they should be able to easily find you again!
90% of information transmitted to the brain is visual. Visuals are processed 60,000X faster in the brain than text. (- MIS Research Center)
This alone will mean they can quickly scroll their inbox and pick out your emails to open and read VS not realizing you have even sent them something :/
Life does get busy after all and especially in the inbox, we need all the tactics possible to fight for their attention!
Personal Account - Step By Step Instructions
This is the same process for both Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) and a personal Gmail account too.
Simply go to myaccount.google.com
Click on your current profile image
Then click on change and upload your new image
Size: 250px x 250px
Done.
Now whenever you send out an email or reply to someone who’s using gmail to read your emails, they will see your profile image.
Business Email Setup
Things are a little bit different if your trying to do this from a non gmail account (i.e. your business email address like [email protected])
Or likewise if you don’t seem to have the option to select “use another email”
Step 1). Log out of Gmail
Step 2). Open this link…
Then follow these steps…
- Click on Use my current email address instead
- Now Type Your Non-gmail Address ( business email )
- Fill out other details
- Click on next and Agree
- Now We Created Google Profile for Our Business Email
Then go ahead and follow the previous instructions listed above to edit your profile image.
